Artist Statement

I began my art as a musician, then painter, now currently a photographer doing figurative fine art.  I combine photography with a painting style that balances reality with interpretation.  My vision is to capture the human form and inner and outer beauty of people, in their own world, unaware of our gaze. My images start out as a vision, a story, an emotion, an exploration and sometimes just a portrait.  I find women a fascinating, complex and sensitive subjects and thus are my main focus.

Having started with traditional art techniques, I now embrace all digital methods.  I use a studio to do the photography because it allows a blank canvas approach where elements needed to convey the concept are added to the scene, nothing else.  I seek out both professional and non-professional models to collaboration with.  Digital brush strokes, textures, colours are added to enhance the base photograph.   The final stage is to print giclee images on fine art papers and frame.
